The social Impacts of the Second World War on the home fronts
,Every country who was part of the second world war had a shortage to some materials. These materials can range from eververyday items like food, clothing and petrol. To insure that every citizen had enough food the government implemented rationing. The level of rationing depended on the country. To share out the materials equally the government gave out rationing coupons and rationing books, which could be exchanged for food and other items. In most countries a black market appeared which sold extra food for a high price. In Germany the government tried to limit the need of rationing by taking food from countries they had taken over such as Poland. Later in the War Germany almost ran out of food and severe rationing had to be introduced. For countries under attack like Britain air raids were part of their daily routine and gas masks were carried around. In places like the USA they started doing an advertisement campaign which told people to save food where possible and make do with what they have.
